Frances Weltch Force was born and raised in Augusta Georgia. A 1964 Graduate of Agnes Scott College, she retired in 2002 from a career in Richmond County teaching elementary school.
She has been greatly influenced and inspired by the art works of her mother, Doris Simmons Weltch and aunt, Alice Simmons Randolph and her friend and local artist, Bea Kuhlke. Additionally she has studied under Thomas Needham, Jim Gensheer, Gerald Brommer, Frank Webb, and Skip Lawrence.
Following retirement, she enrolled in various art classes at Gertrude Herbert and workshops at Springmaid Watermedia (Myrtle Beach), Boone, North Carolina and Edisto Beach.
She works primarily with the media of watercolor and collage, and enjoys painting still lifes and landscapes, with particular interest in Historic Buildings in Augusta. Her high quality prints are rendered using the Giclee Print method. She paints regularly with friends (“The Woodbine Women”) at their studio in Lakemont.
